As you juggle your business, your kids, your home, and yourself, do you ever feel like you’re not doing any of it well?
You wake up already behind. The kids need breakfast, you have a client call at 9, the laundry is overflowing, and you haven’t checked email yet. Let alone, a walk? Sunshine? Working out? Acknowledging your partner? By evening, you’re exhausted but somehow feel like you didn’t show up fully for anyone. Not your family, not your business, not yourself.
Here’s what no one tells you about being a mom in business. You’re carrying invisible loads at home and at work. You’re the boss and the employee, you’re the head of the household, and subject to every “Mama!?” that a tiny voice speaks (and demands).
Why “Doing it all perfect, all at once” Doesn’t Work
Most moms in business take the implication that they should “do it all.” But without structure, everything feels urgent. You’re the present mom, the strategic CEO, the diligent employee, the supportive partner, and the successful entrepreneur, all at once, all the time.
It’s not you. The problem is the expectation that everything deserves equal weight, every day.
The truth? Balance doesn’t mean equal attention to everything at once. It means aligning your time and energy with your values for this season.
A Different Way: The Power of Seasonal Thinking
Balance doesn’t mean giving 100% to everything all the time. It means looking at life holistically and deciding what matters most this season
Why not quarterly? Are you telling me that a Quarter is more fun than acknowledging family and seasons? Embrace the feminine. Within your business, acknowledge that there is more to you and your life than the business.
Your Seasonal Clarity Framework:
Start with Non-Negotiables: What absolutely must happen this season? School pickup times, existing client commitments, family obligations. Hello, holidays? These create your framework.
What needs more attention this season? (Maybe it’s a business project. Maybe it’s home routines. Maybe it’s your health.)
What can wait? What is there actually room for? Let’s set you up for success in less areas, versus mediocrity in all.
Journal Prompt: “If I could feel at peace with how I spent my time this season, what would need to be true?”
Want to be an over-achiever? Replace the word “peace” with “joy”, “excitement”, “satisfaction”, aim high!
Example: Maybe this fall is about launching your new service while being present for your daughter’s soccer season. That means the website redesign waits until winter, and the networking events take a backseat to Saturday games.
You don’t need to do it all at once. By focusing on life holistically, one season at a time, you can show up fully for your family, your business, and yourself without burning out.
